Pregnancy & Birth

Helping you plan and prepare for birth as well as staying by your side through labor

Birth Doula Support

Your birth experience matters to me. Whether this is your first or last pregnancy, I would love to support you. Birth support is customized to your family’s needs, but it can like comfort measures such a as hip squeezes, emotional support and encouragement, partner support, and more.

Birth Package

Wondering what birth support from TBC looks like? As your doula, I hear your plans for birth, help you execute them, and follow up to debrief. Having a doula increases one’s satisfaction with their birth experience, and your experience is important to me!

Prenatal Visits

These two appointments are time for us to get to know each other, to talk about your pregnancy so far, and for you to tell us about your ideal birth. From there, we spend time practicing comfort measures and learning what works best for you.

Labor Support

When it’s go-time, I am fully present with my clients. I will walk though those comfort measures that felt good during our prenatals and encourage you to check in with your body. After your baby makes their arrival, I will typically stay with you until you transfer to your postpartum room.

Postpartum Visit

After you have had some time to process your experience, we will sit down together, get an update on how everyone is doing, and talk about your birth. This is a good time to get help and referrals and to talk through the life-changing experience that having a baby is.

Birth Doula Support

As soon as possible! Our schedule does fill up, and early booking allows us to save space in our calendar. That being said, please inquire for current availability.

We attend hospital and birth center births; we also attend home births with a Certified Nurse Midwife. Hospitals include UNC, UNC Rex, WakeMed, Duke, Duke Regional, Central Carolina, Cape Fear Valley, and Alamance Regional. Birth centers include Women’s Birth and Wellness. For information about your birthing location or to inquire if we attend births at another location, please contact us.

No! One of our biggest requests is to help partners feel more involved in labor. We enjoy teaming with partners to more effectively help you. Your partner brings invaluable information to the table by knowing you and your needs. We have specific comfort measures that work best with two support people, so your partner will be as active as they like!

There are two different situations that arise with Cesarean sections-planned C-sections and unplanned C-sections. For planned C-sections, we help you know your options, feel empowered in your birth, and give you an idea of what to expect. When the day arrives, we will be with you in your prep room (as policy allows). We have doulas with Operating Room (OR) clearance at UNC, and with any hospital, we will always support you through the operation if allowed. In recovery, we will help you and your partner bond with your baby and help you through your first feeding.

For unplanned C-sections, we will be with you as you labor. If your medical team decides that a C-section is needed, we will help you ask the questions that you need to feel ready (time permitting). Again, we will alway try to accompany you into the OR as allowed. We will support both you and your partner through this experience. We chat about the possibility of a C-section at a prenatal meeting, and here we learn about your preferences if a C-section becomes necessary.

Absolutely! We enjoy helping families through the special considerations that multiples bring and offering the same continuous support through pregnancy and birth.

We can (as allowed by the office’s policy)! This is a separate service, so please make sure you mention that you would like to add this on when you contact us.
